Anthropic, a leading software company based in the US, has secured a $450M Series C funding round with backing from two major tech giants: Google and Salesforce.
Founded in 2019, Anthropic has been dedicated to providing innovative solutions for enterprise companies and quickly established itself as a leader in the industry. The additional funding will enable Anthropic to continue to expand its product offerings and reach even more customers.
This latest investment round was led by returning investor SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and was joined by new investors including Google and Salesforce.
Anthropic’s technology uses AI to solve complex problems across a variety of fields, from energy and climate change to healthcare and transportation.
By developing algorithms that can analyze vast amounts of data, Anthropic aims to unlock insights and solutions that were previously hidden.
With this latest funding round, Anthropic plans to expand its research and development efforts, as well as invest in hiring more talent across the company.
The company’s CEO, David Rolnick, said in a statement, “Our goal is to make AI a force for good in the world, and we believe that the investment from SoftBank, Google, Salesforce and others will help us do just that.”
SoftBank Vision Fund 2 has previously invested in Anthropic, providing $124 million in funding in a Series B round in June 2020. The latest investment from SoftBank brings their total investment in the company to $574 million.
Google and Salesforce’s participation in this funding round is notable, as both companies are leaders in the tech industry.
Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has been investing in AI and machine learning technologies for years, while Salesforce has been using AI to enhance their customer relationship management (CRM) platform.
Anthropic’s latest funding round is a testament to the growing interest in AI and its potential to solve some of the world’s biggest problems.
